🙶 …one of the most interesting Italian interpreter...able to dive into any contemporary musical shapes by identifying herself with a disarming simplicity… so that her performance often turns into a contemplative act… 🙷

Andrea Bedetti – CD Classico 2015

Born in Italy and living in Brussels, Giusy Caruso is a many-sided concert pianist and artist researcher. Doctor of Arts (Music: Piano Performance) and graduated cum laude in Piano and in Philosophy, she has multiple interests in Musicology, Theatre, Dance, Improvisation, Yoga, Eastern cultures and Music Technology. Stimulated by this wide horizon of experiences, her performance projects, based on a repertory ranging from classical to contemporary style, often present interactions with visual arts, theatre and dance.

Rewarded by important institutions, Giusy Caruso carries on her concert activity throughout Europe, Asia and America though working as an artist researcher at IPEM - Department of Musicology, Art, Music Performance and Theatre Studies at the University of Ghent in affiliation with the KASK - School of Arts of Ghent, Royal Conservatory. Her artistic research concerned an investigation on her performance practice of the 72 Etudes Karnatiques pour piano by the French composer Jacques Charpentier (1933-2017) while embracing the studies on embodied music cognition, specifically the mirroring relation between musical intentionality and piano performance gestures.
